Attention and Predictive Processing in the Unified Dynamic Model of the Mind (UDMM)
This paper presents an integrative discussion of attention and predictive processing within the framework of the Unified Dynamic Model of the Mind (UDMM), which posits that the mind functions as a dynamic and predictive system. It continuously generates internal models of the world, guided by prediction and modified by prediction error. We highlight how attention and prediction work as interconnected mechanisms that structure cognition and perception, and how this integration interfaces with affect, intention, and adaptive behavior. The paper also explores the temporal flexibility, clinical implications, and computational potential of UDMM.
