Developing the GenAIRator Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Prototype for Power Generation
This study presents the design, development, and testing of the GenAIRator vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) equippedwith right-triangle aluminum blades for localized renewable energy generation. Created to address frequent power outages inrural areas, the GenAIRator was tested under controlled conditions at wind speeds of 1.45 m/s, 2.13 m/s, and 3.21 m/s. Voltageoutputs increased accordingly (4.35 V, 4.83 V, and 5.68 V), reaching a peak power output of 0.3408 W and a maximum efficiencyof 33.77%, based on theoretical power calculations using Bernoulli’s equation. Compared to the model VAWT’s efficiency of14.57%, the GenAIRator showed a significant improvement, highlighting the impact of aerodynamic blade design and materialselection on performance. The study validates the use of simplified blade profiles for efficient low-wind energy capture. Althoughlimited by its small scale and laboratory setting, the GenAIRator demonstrates the potential of customized VAWTs for smallscale, household-level power generation. Future work will focus on structural optimization, outdoor testing, and scaling strategiesto enhance energy output, durability, and real-world applicability.
