SCALABLE IMPLEMENTATION OF FAULT-TOLERANT QUANTUM ERROR CORRECTION IN SUPERCONDUCTING QUBIT ARCHITECTURES
As quantum computing nears practical viability, the demand for robust, fault-tolerant error correction mechanisms has intensified. Superconducting qubit platforms, while among the most promising architectures, are vulnerable to decoherence, gate errors, and readout inaccuracies. This paper explores recent advances in the scalable implementation of fault-tolerant quantum error correction (FT-QEC), with a particular focus on surface codes within superconducting systems. We analyze error thresholds, circuit-level optimizations, and layout considerations in current hardware implementations. We also assess architectural scalability and integration of quantum control electronics. Finally, the study proposes a modular, layered design strategy for next-generation quantum processors to support fault-tolerant computing at scale.
