Redefining Business Continuity for the Remote Era: Building Resilience Beyond the Traditional Office
This paper introduces the 5P Remote Resilience Model as a new framework for business continuity planning in a remote-first world. It explores how traditional continuity strategies centered on physical facilities and rigid hierarchies have been permanently disrupted by decentralized workforces, cyber threats, SaaS dependencies, and increased operational volatility. Through real-world case studies and current research, the paper offers a practical, leadership-driven roadmap for building adaptive, human-centered resilience across people, platforms, processes, protection strategies, and organizational pulse. Critical future research directions are also identified to further advance resilience theory and practice. Organizations that adapt to this new reality will lead the next era of business. Those that hesitate will be left behind.
