Air Draw Application Using Open CV

ABSTRACT Gesture recognition is one of the essentials for moving closer toward touch less interfaces. Technology has enabled intuitive human-computer interaction in fields of augmented reality, robotics, and digital art. This paper presents a review of literature on developing an application Air Draw using Open CV, focusing on hand tracking and gesture recognition, with the aim of providing real-time virtual drawing experience to the user. The program follows the movements of the hands and translates them into actions that will be interpreted as a drawing. It uses the powerful Open CV capabilities of image processing. Key Results Demonstrate the successful application and the working of contour and convex hull detections. However, environmental issues such as lighting can hinder this and inconsistencies in backgrounds. Other limitations of this system are sensitive to how the user positions their hand and speed of movement. This paper looks at how Open CV can be challenged with potential future approaches like machine learning models and depth sensors to get higher accuracy and robustness in its execution. This study on Open CV reveals all the possibilities that it can cope with, from virtual art creation to basic education and accessibility tools, through accessible, touch less interaction platforms
