The Role of E-Libraries in the NEP 2020 Regime
Abstract In this new era, libraries are no longer just about building vast local collections. Instead, they are becoming gateways to a world of information available through global networks. The focus is now on providing easy access to resources, regardless of where users are whether they are studying in dormitories, working in offices, attending classes, or learning from home. This research paper examines the challenges and strategies involved in the development, implementation, and sustainability of e-libraries, particularly in the context of developing countries, academic institutions, and global access disparities. Librarians today need to adapt to these new technologies, learning how to manage digital, electronic, and online resources. With the rise of the digital age, the role of the librarian is evolving from a traditional custodian of books to a guide in navigating vast digital landscapes. Abdullah and Hassan (2017) highlight infrastructure and content access issues faced by developing nations, while Bates (2002) focuses on the broader technological, financial, and organizational hurdles in building digital libraries. This research paper provides a comprehensive overview of the multifaceted challenges in e-library implementation and suggests actionable strategies for overcoming them in diverse global contexts.
