Il marxismo 'rilanciato': Jameson e Fortini in dialogo
The essay presents a comparison between two analyses of the contemporary age conducted by the American cultural critic Fredric Jameson and the Italian poet and essayist Franco Fortini. Both Marxist intellectuals, they have emphasized the correlation between aesthetic object and modes of production, which has led them to articulate independent theories that do however converge on certain assumptions. Specifically, Jameson’s focus on spatial and existential disorientation in Postmodernism, or The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism, finds a counterpart in Fortini’s advocacy of a disharmonious posture that preserves the revolutionary potentialities of poetic language, leading to recognize one’s position in the grid of power relations.
