Islamophobia and Perception Management and the Expression of Islam in Public Opinion Abroad Initiatives against Islamophobia in Europe
Islamophobia can be defined as the extension of fear, prejudice and hatred against Islam and Muslims in general. This term, which is a combination of the terms "Islam" and "phobia", encompasses not only hostility towards Muslims, but also negative attitudes towards the symbols and practices of this faith. Islamophobia refers to a profound problem of perception by individuals and societies, stemming from a lack of information, misunderstandings or misrepresentations spread by the media and political figures. This leads to a range of negative consequences, such as discrimination, physical violence, or social exclusion of Muslims. Today, Islamophobia is not only an individual attitude but also a social problem. This feeling, which has spread globally, especially in the Western world, has paved the way for political and legal restrictions against the Muslim population in some countries, and paved the way for the legitimization of racism, discrimination, and hostility. In this context, the effects of Islamophobia have become a phenomenon that deeply affects various segments of society.
