How to curate open scholarly metadata databases?
Open scholarly metadata databases present the advantage of enabling more compared to closed databases in terms of use and reuse of information, transparency, and reproducibility. However, there is still room for improvement regarding the accuracy and completeness of key metadata. Since some of the registries used as a source in those global databases are community-led, it is possible for anyone to actively contribute to their improvement. The talk will first address some of the challenges involved in identifying the reasons for discrepancies in the results of analyses carried out with open databases compared to closed databases. It will then introduce actions that have the potential to significantly improve the metadata quality in open infrastructures.
