PART I: MODELING WITH PREDICTION OF BURST PRESSURE OF ELLIPTICAL CORRODED PIPELINE

Abstract The objective of this study is to develop a new model predicting the burst pressure of an elliptical defect in a corroded pipe under internal pressure. The effects of geometric parameters on the pipeline performance were analyzed. The results of our analytical model were compared with those of the well-known LPC model for unrepaired corroded pipes, and there is a good agreement between the two models. For the corroded steel pipe, the comparison between the newly developed model and finite element (FE) calculations also showed a good agreement.
