Intermittent Fasting for Cellular Regeneration and Body Composition Shifts in Relation to Fat Levels

This article presents the concept and health benefits of Intermittent Fasting (IF), a dietary approach that alternates periods of eating and fasting. It emphasizes IF’s role in cellular repair, stimulation of autophagy, hormonal regulation and reduction of chronic inflammation. Common IF patterns such as 16/8, 18/6, OMAD and extended fasts of 24–72 hours are described, alongside key safety considerations. The practice is further compared with the monastic dietary discipline in Buddhism, where abstaining from food after noon aligns with the principles of IF. The article also explores the relationship between body fat percentage and physical appearance, appropriate exercise during fasting and biological parallels with animal hibernation. Ultimately, IF is framed not merely as a weight-loss method but as a holistic practice for restoring balance in both body and mind.
