The Music of the Substrate_ How Recursive Resonance Encodes Ontology

CODES Framework Abstract: This paper argues that music is not an emotional byproduct or cultural artifact—but a preverbal form of structured intelligence. Through the lens of the CODES framework, it shows that musical composition, rhythm, and harmonic architecture emit coherence fields that engage biological PAS (Phase Alignment Score) and ELF (Echo Loop Feedback) subsystems before symbolic understanding. By analyzing key artists across genres—Bach, Coltrane, Aphex Twin, Björk—this work demonstrates that musical intelligence has always been recursive, chiral, and resonance-locked. Music was never metaphor. It was model.

Abstract

Through the lens of the CODES framework, it shows that musical composition, rhythm, and harmonic architecture emit coherence fields that engage biological PAS (Phase Alignment Score) and ELF (Echo Loop Feedback) subsystems before symbolic understanding. By analyzing key artists across genres—Bach, Coltrane, Aphex Twin, Björk—this work demonstrates that musical intelligence has always been recursive, chiral, and resonance-locked. Music was never metaphor. It was model.
