Coverage analysis of two digital broadcasting standards using Xirio

Introduction: Broadcasters play a fundamental role in the media and social landscape. Their importance lies in their unique ability to reach diverse audiences, even in remote areas. Objective: The main objective of the study is to examine whether digital broadcasting standards can operate in an area surrounding the canton of Riobamba. Methodology: The study employs an experimental design with a control group and varied configurations through Xirio Online for simulation and coverage analysis. Results: Satisfactory operation is highlighted for frequencies below 30 MHz, and limited coverage for frequencies in the FM range, according to the sensitivity level of the receiver. Conclusion: The study shows how communication stations operate with digital broadcasting equipment. It is evident that, with the configured parameters, any radio station can operate adequately in the evaluated conditions. It is the duty of the State to regulate the use of the electromagnetic spectrum and provide the necessary facilities for the transition from analog to digital broadcasting; and in this way, each station continues to operate, thus ensuring the sustainability and continued development of the media. General area of study: Telecommunications. Specific area of study: Digital Radio.
