Analyzing The Level of Understanding of Young People in The Context of Family Dynamics

This study aims to examine the role of family dynamics in assessing the level of understanding of young people between the ages of 15-25 with a qualitative approach. In the study, the main factors shaping the psychological well-being of young people include multidimensional factors such as the quality of communication within the family, parental attitudes, youth participation in decision-making processes, sharing of responsibilities, emotional support, trust, and respect. The sample of the study consisted of 94 young individuals (73 females, 21 miles) from Ankara, Izmir, Kütahya and Muğla provinces, varying in terms of age, education level, family structure, number of siblings and socioeconomic status. Data were collected through an online qualitative questionnaire consisting of open-ended questions and sentence completion statements and were thematically analyzed using content analysis. The findings suggest that supportive, inclusive, and trust-based family environments increase young people's level of understanding and positively affect their psychological resilience and self-development. The poem "I Understand You", which added an original and aesthetic dimension to the study, added an artistic depth to the qualitative data by reflecting the emotional experiences of the participants within the family through symbolic expression.
