DEVELOPING DISCOURSE COMPETENCE THROUGH TASK-BASED LEARNING IN HIGH SCHOOL
This paper explores the development of discourse competence in high school students through task-based learning (TBL). Discourse competence, the ability to effectively produce and comprehend extended spoken and written texts, is essential for successful communication in academic and social contexts. The study investigates how task-based learning—an instructional approach emphasizing real-world tasks and meaningful interaction—can enhance students' capacity to construct coherent and contextually appropriate discourse. The research focuses on designing and implementing tasks that promote the integration of language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with an emphasis on fostering collaborative learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
