Formalisation of materials characterisation terminology and application to industrial protocols

The characterization of materials is crucial in various industrial sectors, yet it is often fraught with challenges due to the diversity of methods and terminologies. This presentation introduces the CHAMEO ontology, designed as a common modeling framework for materials characterization, which can be used for the development of method and application specific ontologies, thereby promoting and facilitating interoperability within the community. CHAMEO, together with its derived ontologies, aims to provide a reference for FAIR documentation of characterisation experiments and protocols.

Abstract

The characterization of materials is crucial in various industrial sectors, yet it is often fraught with challenges due to the diversity of methods and terminologies. This presentation introduces the CHAMEO ontology, designed as a common modeling framework for materials characterization, which can be used for the development of method and application specific ontologies, thereby promoting and facilitating interoperability within the community. CHAMEO, together with its derived ontologies, aims to provide a reference for FAIR documentation of characterisation experiments and protocols.
