DEVELOPING COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE THROUGH TASK-BASED LEARNING IN MIDDLE SCHOOLS
Communicative competence often considered one of the fundamental skills in a child’s development. It requires not only telling the words but also using the exact language appropriately in real-life situations. It is essential for learners, especially middle school students as they are in the period where linguistic (sociolinguistic), and pragmatic skills are their primary subject in developing a language. Task-Based Learning (TBL), also known as Task-Based Instruction (TBI) can be an excellent choice for achieving this. This mainly focuses on having students being competent and using authentic language with the help of meaningful tasks in target language rather than traditional rote learning models, including grammar-translation or the audio-lingual methods. This article explores the intricate relationship between interpersonal communication and Task-Based Learning in language development using detailed information for middle school system.
