INAPPROPRIATE CLAIMS FROM NON-EQUIVALENT MEDICATIONS IN BRAIN TUMOR: A POSITION PAPER ENDORSED BY THE EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF POTOLOGY OF BRAIN DISEASES
This position paper, endorsed by the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Pathology of Brain Diseases (ESCAPBD), addresses the growing concerns regarding inappropriate claims associated with non-equivalent medications used in the treatment of brain tumors. The paper outlines the potential risks posed by these misleading claims, which can lead to ineffective treatment options and adversely impact patient outcomes. It emphasizes the importance of rigorous clinical testing and evidence-based practices in drug approval processes to ensure that only medications with proven efficacy are utilized in clinical settings. Furthermore, the paper advocates for enhanced education for both healthcare providers and patients, urging the need for transparent information about treatment options. Economic evaluations are recommended to assess the financial implications of using non-equivalent medications versus approved therapies. The ESCAPBD calls for the establishment of clear guidelines and protocols to regulate the use of non-equivalent medications and supports robust post-market surveillance to monitor adverse events. Ultimately, this position paper seeks to protect patients and ensure optimal therapeutic strategies in the management of brain tumors.
