Meta-Analysis of Complications and Retrieval Outcomes of the Argon Medical Option Inferior Vena Cava Filter: A Focus on Perforation, Penetration, and Fracture Rates
The use of inferior vena cava (IVC) filters remains a critical intervention for patients at risk of pulmonary embolism who have contraindications to anticoagulation. Among retrievable IVC filters, the Argon Medical Option filter is frequently utilized due to its design, intended to reduce migration, fracture, and perforation rates. This meta-analysis aims to compile and assess data on complications specific to the Option filter, particularly fracture, perforation, and penetration. By reviewing outcomes from six major studies, we aim to provide an evidence-based assessment of the safety and efficacy of the Option IVC filter, including comparisons with other filter types where available.
