Parandania boecki (Stebbing, 1888) (Figure 17) Andania boecki Stebbing, 1888: 735, pl. XXXVI. Parandania boecki – Stebbing, 1906: 95. – De Broyer et al., 2007: 204 (see for an extensive synonym list). Material examined 1 female, 14.8 mm, Potiguar Basin, MT 83, initial trawl coordinates 4.4405°S, 36.4308°W, final trawl coordinates 4.4905°S, 36.4026°W, Rio Grande do Norte state, Brazil, initial depth 1950 m, final depth 1880 m, 4 May 2011, R / V Seward Johnson col. (MOUFPE 20191). Type locality Pernambuco state, north-eastern Brazil, 8.6167°S, 34.4667°W. Remarks Parandania boecki was originally described based on a single specimen with material collected from the Brazilian state of Pernambuco at a depth of 1234 m during the Challenger Expedition (Stebbing 1888). Therefore, in this study the bathymetric range of the species is expanded from 1234 to 1880– 1950 m deep. Over the years, it was found that the species has a very broad geographic distribution, with a clear predominance in the southern hemisphere (De Broyer et al. 2007). The female individual collected in this study agrees with the original description of Stebbing (1888), as well as other studies that involved this species (Schellenberg 1926; J.L. Barnard 1961; Moore 1992), in the following characters: antenna 1 (Figure 17a) articles short; flagellum article 1 broad, elongate, bearing dense row of callynophores; accessory flagellum curved and as long as first article of the primary flagellum; maxilla 2 (Figure 17b) inner plate densely setose and much larger than outer; gnathopods 1–2 (Figure 17c–d) propodus tapering distally, palm strongly acute; uropods 1–3 (Figure 17e–g) similar, peduncle much longer than rami; telson (Figure 17h) short and subtriangular. This is the second record of the species from Brazilian waters. Type locality Pernambuco state, north-eastern Brazil, 8.6167°S, 34.4667°W. Distribution and bathymetry Pan-oceanic, from shallow waters up to 3700 m deep (De Broyer et al. 2007; Serejo and Siqueira 2018). Slope of Rio Grande do Norte state (between 4.4405°S, 36.4308°W and 4.4905°S, 36.4026°W), Brazil, between 1880 and 1950 m deep (current study) (Figure 23).
