Headache and ocular pain associated with polyostotic fibrous dysplasia. A case report
Background: This article presents the case of an adult patient with a holocranial headache radiating to the cervical region and upper limbs, initially attributed to migraine or stress in multiple medical evaluations. Due to poor response to treatment, magnetic resonance imaging was requested, revealing cortical thickening in the occipital bone and clivus, causing a mass effect and compression of the occipital lobes and cerebellar hemispheres, related to polyostotic fibrous dysplasia. This was identified as the probable cause of the patient's symptoms. The medical management included evaluation by neurosurgery for potential surgical intervention, as well as pain management and regular follow-ups. This case underscores the importance of a thorough and detailed evaluation of symptoms such as headaches and the consideration of rare causes for better management and improved patient quality of life.
