Endophytic Bacteria: Mysterious Supporters in Medicinal Plants
Endophytes are one of the least understood members of microbial community. They live inside plant without causing harm in symbiotic relationship. Endophytes have three main functions in plants: they stimulate growth, improve disease resistance and raise stress tolerance. Additionally, by synthesizing bioactive chemicals, they protect their host plant. The bioactive compounds may possess antioxidant, anti-microbial, and anti-cancer properties. Sophisticated methods like metagenomics and high throughput sequencing have improved our comprehension of these bacteria' diversity and roles. Large-scale endophyte cultivation and the investigation of novel species are planned areas of future study. The ongoing investigation of endophytes opens the door to novel therapeutic possibilities.
