Should carotid body tumors be embolized pre-surgically?: A single university hospital randomized study

Carotid body tumors, almost benign, are some of the most challenging cases for Vascular surgeons, because of their close proximity to the neuro-vascular structures of the neck and their hyper-vascularized histological nature. Complete surgical resection is the cornerstone of treatment of these tumors.
