A Comprehensive Analysis of the Series Resistance for Different Interdigitated Back Contact Solar Cell Geometries
Top contact-free solar cells achieve higher efficiencies by eliminating shading losses from front metal fingers since the front metal finger is brought to the rear surface of the device. However, since the positive contact and the negative contact coexist in the rear side of the cell, the geometry of the metallization is vital. In this context, we propose a busless geometry, for which ohmic losses are deduced according to a basic analytical 1D model and focusing on the emitter series resistance and the metallic series resistance. This work helps us to understand the role of both partial components for the optimization of the ohmic losses in the interdigitated back contact solar cells.
