Effect of visual feedback combined with core stabilization training on functional recovery after thoracolumbar compression fracture in elderly patients
[Objective] To investigate the effect of visual feedback combined with core stabilization training on functional recovery after thoracolumbar compression fracture in elderly patients. [Methods] A total of 110 elderly patients with thoracolumbar compression fractures admitted to Jiangning Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from August 2022 to December 2023 were selected by convenient sampling method and divided into two groups according to random number table, with 55 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine intervention, and the observation group was treated with visual feedback combined with core stabilization training. Pain degree, lumbar function, balance function, activities of daily living and quality of life of the two groups were measured before intervention and 3 months after intervention. [Results] Visual analog scale (VAS), oswestry disability index (ODI), Berg balance scale (BBS), instrumental activity of daily living scale (IADL), gait analysis parameters and generic quality of life inventory (GQOLI-74) scores of the two groups before intervention were compared, there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). After 3 months of intervention, VAS score and ODI score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05), while BBS score, IADL score, gait analysis parameters and GQOLI-74 score in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). [Conclusion] Visual feedback combined with core stabilization training can promote postoperative pain relief, lumbar function, balance function, activities of daily living and quality of life in elderly patients with thoracolumbar compression fractures.
