Modelling the Effects of Tandem Module Circuit Configurations
To study the effects of tandem PV module circuit configurations without the influence of measurement-induced changes to sensitive perovskite layers in the system, a tandem PV simulation module is produced based on specially designed interdigitated back contact (IBC) silicon solar cells with three electrical terminals and such that the module can be reconfigured into any possible terminal circuit configuration (2T, 3T, 4T). Using the measurements obtained from this tandem module as validation, a circuit model of the emulated module is constructed in the MATLAB Simulink environment to study electrical properties. The module and experimentally validated tool are then used to assess the effect of bypass diodes during shading conditions.
