FeO Nanoparticles Synthesized from Mangifera Indica Leave Extracts
The biosynthesis of iron oxide nanoparticles (FeO-NPs) using plant extracts offers an eco-friendly, cost-effective method with significant environmental applications. This study synthesized FeO-NPs using an aqueous extract of Mangifera indica (mango) leaves, acting as both a reducing and stabilizing agent. Characterization via UV-Vis spectroscopy confirmed nanoparticle formation through surface Plasmon resonance, while FTIR analysis indicated successful capping by biomolecules from the extract. The FeO-NPs were tested for their ability to adsorb cadmium (Cd²⁺) and copper (Cu²⁺) from aqueous solutions, demonstrating effective heavy metal removal. This highlights the potential of plant-based FeO-NPs for wastewater treatment and advances green nanotechnology in environmental remediation.
