Development of an Architecture for Power Interchange by Linking Photovoltaic and Electrification Vehicles

Aiming to use renewable energy power with high efficiency both on and off the grid, we have developed a new architecture to realize power interchange by linking PV systems and electrification vehicles. The most important point of this architecture is that the PV power fluctuation value and the allowable charge value are derived from the physical parameters of PV and electrification vehicles, linked with the correction parameters of PV prediction, and reflected in the control interchange plan. For PV, we analyzed cloud cover data and PV power changes to estimate the PV power fluctuation value. For electrification vehicles, we calculated the allowable charge value based on the voltage change during discharge and the reference vehicle curve. As a result, we could confirm that on sunny days, even if the PV power fluctuation is large, more than 50% of the total PV-generated power can be used to charge the electrification vehicles. From these results, we have demonstrated that this method is a new architecture for efficient use of renewable energy both on and off the grid.
