PV Module Brush Abrasion Testing
A test sequence for evaluating the durability of PV modules under cleaning conditions in hot desert environments is introduced, focusing on qualification and benchmarking. This sequence, based on brush abrasion testing in accordance with IEC 62788-7-3, is being assessed using a cleaning robot test stand for full-size PV modules. Changes in surface roughness and glass reflectance are measured. Coaxial microscopy is employed to describe the abrasion of the front glass texture and anti-reflective coating. Additionally, SEM and EDX analyses are conducted to determine the composition of dust found on desert-exposed modules and to evaluate the characteristics of the cleaning brushes.
