Prioritizing Preregistration in Special Education Research
A hallmark open science practice, preregistration is a documented research plan that is publicly shared by researchers prior to conducting the study. When preregistered plans align with research reports, or when researchers note and explain any deviations from preregistered plans, research consumers can have greater confidence that the researchers did not engage in questionable research practices. In this paper, we focus on preregistration and describe some of the unique considerations and challenges from researchers who are working to adopt preregistration into their research procedures. We cover a range of infrastructure options and methodologies in order to foster open and ongoing conversation about how we may adopt open practices, share resources, and support each other in our special education scholarly community.
