EFFECT OF CHROMIUM ION DOPED BISMUTH FERRITE (BiFeO3) NANO PARTICLE ON STRUCTURAL, DIELECTRIC AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES
ADVISOR: SENBATO KENA (PhD) EXCUTIVE SUMMARY BiFeO3 has rhombohedra structure R3c (α, β, γ = 59.4ᵒ,a=b=c=5.63Å)at room temperature. BFO is very promising in terms of practical applications; it is not suitable for device applications because it has some inherent problems, such as its weak macroscopic, magnetism, high leakage current. To overcome these problems several strategies have been proposed .The main purpose of the work is to study structural ,magnetic o dielectric properties of cr doped BFO nanoparticles(Bi1-xCrxFeO3) with concentrations (x = 0, 0.5,1) to be preparing by using Sol-gel method. The crystal structure and Morphology was characterized by XRD, SEM, EDX,VSM respectevely. XDR pattern showed that the structure of bismuth ferrite was rhombohedra distorted Perovskite structure of space group R3c and has the chemical formula ABO3. The surface morphology of samples was observed in SEM and non-uniform size distribution with an increase particle size from 35 nm to 50 nm observed in SEM for (x = 0, 0.5, 1) respectively .The elemental composition of the sample will be determined using energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) Spectroscopy. The magnetic parameters will be measured using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). x ray diffraction analysis reveal the presence of trace of BFO. . Key words: crystals, nanoparticles, XRD, SEM, EDX, VSM TEM and sol-gel methods.
