Curb Inventory Collection and Analysis for the City of Durham, NC
Current needs for micromobility efforts in Durham entail (1) Gathering data on their Downtown curb-space regulations and location, (2) Adding more micromobility parking areas (MPAs), (3) Considering opportunities to collaborate with curb management companies, and (4) Streamlining communication between city departments and the public. This project intends to address these needs and provide guidance for future research. The data collection occurred in chunks, focusing on an individual Study Area (or Durham District) each day. Collection began, officially, on March 10, 2025 and ended on March 28, 2025. After collecting and cleaning the dataset, the Team recommended 16 locations for Micromobility Parking Areas for Durham. For the recommendations, the Team considered areas lacking MPAs, previous ridership trends, and general guidance from the field.
