AVAILMENT AND ENHANCEMENT OF BENEFITS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF ALFONSO, CAVITE

As the elderly population grows, related concerns and challenges become more prevalent and require attention. Ensuring their well-being involves recognizing their contributions and addressing their unique challenges. This study determines the availment and enhancement of benefits for senior citizens in the Municipality of Alfonso, Cavite. It evaluated how the respondents avail services like medicine and drug purchases, medical and dental services, and essential health medical supplies, accessories, and equipment. Also, the possible enhancement of concerned agencies on the benefits accrued to senior citizens, particularly hospitals and clinics, groceries, and drugstores. One hundred fifty senior citizens, one hundred fifty guardians of the senior citizens, and five personnel from the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) of Alfonso, Cavite were identified as respondents using purposive-criterion sampling. To achieve the research objectives, this study employed a quantitative research approach. A sample survey utilizing self-constructed questionnaires was used to collect primary data, while secondary data were gathered from various relevant sources. The findings indicate that senior citizens are satisfied with the benefits and services provided. This general approval underscores the strengths of the current support system for the elderly. However, the study concludes that, despite this satisfaction, an information campaign is essential to effectively disseminate details about the plans, activities, and services available to them. This will ensure that senior citizens are fully informed and can make the best use of the available resources for them.
