Design and Implementation of n8 and n106 UHF Band High Power Inverted Doherty Power Amplifier
In this article, the design and implementation of a high peak power Inverted Doherty Power Amplifier (IDPA) are demonstrated for n8 and n106 UHF applications. The study explores how the low values of the required optimum impedances for input and output of high-power devices can utilized to extract the maximum output power and efficiency since lower characteristic impedance transmission lines are wider to realize the matching network if they are purely resistive. In this paper, these bulky lines are replaced with higher characteristic impedance loaded by shunt capacitors to reduce the aerial dimensions of the transmission lines. The proposed IDPA achieves a high peak output power of 57.1-57.6 dBm with a Drain Efficiency (DE) of 68-76% over the 850-975 MHz frequency range and 51-65% at 50.6 dBm output back-off power.
