Thermosensitive Hydrogel\nLoaded with the Polydopamine/Cerium\nDioxide/Montmorillonite Nanocomposite for Bacteria-Infected Wound\nTherapy
Bacterial\ninfections pose a serious threat to human health\nby significantly\nslowing the wound healing process. Furthermore, traditional antibiotics\nmay promote the development of multidrug-resistant bacteria. For bacterial-infected\nwounds, there is an urgent need for the development of a nonantibiotic-dependent\nmultifunctional wound dressing. Herein, polydopamine/cerium dioxide/montmorillonite\n(PDA/CeO2/Mt) nanocomposite was embedded into thermosensitive\npluronic F-127/xanthan gum hydrogel to prepare a multifunctional PCM-FX\nhydrogel with antibacterial and hemostatic functions. The PDA and\nhollow CeO2 nanoparticles of the PDA/CeO2/Mt\nnanocomposite endowed the PCM-FX hydrogel with superb photothermal\nproperties and highly efficient nanoenzyme activity, respectively.\nMoreover, PDA/CeO2/Mt nanocomposites can also effectively\nimprove the rheological properties and good adhesion properties of\nthe hydrogels. The synergistic photothermal therapy/chemodynamic therapy\nof PCM-FX hydrogels achieves good antibacterial properties against\nboth Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The PCM-FX hydrogels exhibit\nhigh hemostatic performance as well as low cytotoxicity. Additionally,\nPCM-FX hydrogels proved a significant multifunctional antibacterial\ntherapy, meanwhile promoting fibroblast proliferation and granulation\ntissue formation to accelerate bacteria-infected wound healing. This\nsafe and multifunctional wound dressing holds great potential for\nclinical applications in accelerating bacterial-infected wound healing.
