Single-Base\nResolution Photonic-Integrated Chips via\nHybrid Dielectric–Metal Nanocavities for Ultrasensitive Multichannel\nBiosensing

The development of highly precise and rapid biological\nphotonic-integrated\nchips with single-base resolution for target gene detection holds\nimmense potential to revolutionize genetic diagnostics and nonlinear\noptical devices. Our recent study presents the design of a single-base\nresolution photonic-integrated chip (SRPIC) with multichannel biosensing\ncapabilities, enabling discrimination between gene segment sequences\ndiffering by a single nucleotide at sample concentrations below 1\nfM. Through the utilization of hybrid dielectric–metal nanocavity\narrays, the SRPIC established an efficient biosensing platform by\nmotivating light-biological matter coupling behavior. This accomplishment\nrepresents an extraordinary 104-fold increase in the limit\nof detection (LOD) compared with the CRISPR-HOLMES technique, exhibiting\nnearly impeccable precision during clinical testing. Our research\nhighlights the potential of SRPIC as a powerful tool for the development\nof high-performance photonic-integrated chips capable of achieving\nmultichannel single-base resolution biosensing, with each channel\nrepresenting the detection of a single virus.
