Synthesis of 1,1,3-Polyfunctionalized Cyclobutane\nDerivatives from the Reaction of Sulfur Ylides with Bicyclo[1.1.0]butanes

1,1,3-Polyfunctionalized\ncyclobutane derivatives have been synthesized\nfrom sulfur ylides and bicyclo[1.1.0]butanes (BCBs). This protocol\noperates under mild reaction conditions without the need for catalysts,\ngenerally producing moderate to good yields of <i>syn</i>-addition derivatives with structural diversity. An unexpected intramolecular\nrearrangement mechanism has also been proposed.
