DNA Origami-AssembledGold Nanobipyramid Dimer Electrocatalystfor Ultrahigh Oxygen Evolution Reaction Activity
In recent years, the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) has garnered considerable attention as a pivotal process for water electrolysis. The progress of this process hinges on the efficacy of the catalyst. In the present study, the role of DNA origami-assembled gold nanobipyramid (Au NBP) dimer structure was explored for initiating the electrocatalytic activity of the water-splitting reaction. Through the strategic integration of DNA origami technology and Au NBPs, this study aims to orchestrate precise modulation of the electrocatalyst architecture to achieve unprecedented activity levels in the OER. The Au NBP dimer catalyst exhibits the lowest overpotential of 146 mV at a current density of 10 mAcm–2 compared with its various constituents. The dimer configuration optimizes the exposure of catalytically active sites and promotes efficient charge transfer pathways due to the presence of DNA origami. This study endeavors to unlock new frontiers in electrocatalytic material design, paving the way toward sustainable energy technologies with enhanced efficiency and scalability.
