Multifunctional Hydrogelwith Dual-Dynamic Bonds forEnhanced Wound Healing

Exploring new dynamic bonds for multifunctional hydrogel in fabricating wound dressing materials has received great attention recently. This paper introduces a multifunctional hydrogel designed for wound healing using a novel dual-dynamic-bond cross-linking of Ag–Se coordination bonds and Se–Se diselenide bonds. These dynamic bonds give the hydrogel excellent mechanical and multistimulus self-healing capabilities. The redox sensitivity of the Se–Se bonds allows for adjustable adhesion capacity and easy removal of the hydrogel when exposed to stimuli like hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), addressing a common challenge in wound dressing. Moreover, the hydrogels also demonstrated antibacterial and hemostatic properties. Furthermore, the dual-dynamic cross-linked hydrogel dressings showed enhanced wound healing in mice with full-thickness skin wounds compared to the 3 M Tegaderm dressing. The hydrogel’s versatility, stemming from its robust structural characteristics, renders it appropriate for addressing acute wound care.
