Construction\nof Lactones via Ligand-Enabled Ni-Catalyzed\nAlkene Hydroxylarylation/Lactonization
Here, we report the preparation of\nlactones via Ni-catalyzed alkene\nhydroxylarylation and sequential intramolecular lactonization with\nO2 as a green oxidant and oxygen source. The bulky 1,3-diketone\nligand is crucial by enabling Ni-catalyzed hydroxylarylation of alkenes,\nproviding numerous phthalide and furanone derivatives with high efficiency\nunder mild conditions. The synthetic value of this methodology was\nfurther demonstrated by the efficient synthesis of typhaphthalide\nand a monoamine oxidase B inhibitor.
