Mn-Catalyzed Aerobic\nOxidative α‑Cyanation\nof Tertiary Amines Using Azo/Hydrazide Redox
Azo compounds such as diethyl azodicarboxylate have been\nused in\noxidative coupling reactions to generate iminium ions from tertiary\namines. However, the requirement of stoichiometric amounts of azo\ncompounds limits their large-scale applications. Herein, we present\nan aerobic oxidative α-cyanation of tertiary amines using catalytic\namounts of an azo compound or hydrazine. The developed protocol provides\na practical and ecofriendly route for α-cyanated tertiary amines,\nusing molecular oxygen as the terminal oxidant.
