Design and Simulation of Microstrip Patch Hexagonal Koch Antenna with Defected Ground Structure for Ku and K Band Applications

This paper presents the design and analysis of a microstrip patch Hexagonal Koch antenna with a Defected Ground Structure operating at 13.2 GHz, 18 GHz, 22.7 GHz, and 24.7 GHz. The antenna features dimensions of 60 mm in length, 60 mm in width, and 0.12 cm in height, with RT duroid 5880 substrate adapted to achieve a gain of 8 dB within a multiband frequency range. Defecting the ground structure allows for increased power and efficient signal transmission in the specified frequency band. The design methodology, simulation, and performance evaluation of the proposed antenna are carried out using the HFSS tool. This antenna is suitable for various communication, radar, and satellite applications requiring Ku and K band frequency bandwidths.
