Manganaelectro-Catalyzed\nCyclization of <i>o</i>‑Aminoarylketones with Ammonia:\nAn Approach to 1,2-Dihydroquinazolines

A manganaelectro-catalyzed cyclization\nreaction of 2-aminoarylketones\nwith simple alcohols and ammonia under mild conditions is reported\nfor the first time. The cooperative catalysis effectively enhances\nthe oxidation of primary alcohols into aldehydes, thus enabling the\nsynthesis of substituted 1,2-dihydroquinazolines in good to excellent\nyields. In addition, the utilities of this method are highlighted\nin the construction of biologically active molecules that would otherwise\nbe difficult to access through a traditional method.
