Moment Analysis\nof Solute Permeation Kinetics at the\nInterface of Spherical Molecular Aggregates by Using Partial Supplying\nHigh- Performance Liquid Chromatography
Partial supplying high-performance liquid chromatography\n(HPLC)\nwas proposed as an experimental method. Moment equations were systematically\ndeveloped for analyzing elution peak profiles measured by partial\nsupplying HPLC to study solute permeation kinetics at the interface\nof spherical molecular aggregates. The moment analysis method was\napplied to the determination of partition equilibrium and interfacial\nsolute permeation rate constants of three solutes to sodium dodecyl\nsulfate (SDS) micelles. Their values were comparable with those determined\nby conventional HPLC, i.e., continuous supplying HPLC. Partial supplying\nHPLC experiments were conducted under the conditions that the ODS\nstationary phase surface is dynamically coated by SDS monomers. It\nwas tried to analyze how the length of the partially supplied SDS\nsolution zone changes due to diffusion phenomena during chromatographic\nprocesses. It was concluded that the moment analysis method using\npartial supplying HPLC is effective for the kinetic study of the interfacial\nsolute permeation of spherical molecular aggregates.
