Generation of Hot Gas based on Susceptor Induction Heating

Industrial high-temperature applications have relied on fossil energy sources with a low level of efficiency. As a result, there is a great interest in researching efficient and sustainable alternatives. Induction heating technologies are energy efficient and can be utilised from renewable energy sources. In order to generate high process temperatures by induction, a device for susceptor-based induction heating of gas that may exceed 1800 °C is presented and modelled. The cold gas is injected into a system containing a very well electrically and thermally conductive porous filling, which is inductively heated and transfers heat to the gas flowing through the filling. The results are verified experimentally on an experimental hot-gas generator.
