Construction of a Crocodile hybrid bridge over the Kwisa River in Trzebów
The new system, called Crocodile, for spans with range 50 – 60 m using rolled I-sections in midspan and T-sections with concrete webs at support regions, is presented in the paper on example of the construction of the bridge over Kwisa River in Trzebów. The system is presented, as well as its benefits for both contractor and a bridge owner. It is described how the bridge is erected and also alternative technologies are presented. Dimensioning of the Crocodile bridge goes far beyond rules of Eurocode 2, 3 and 4, and is based on the most recent research works considering so called hybrid sections and hybrid beams. Challenges are highlighted and appropriate references are given for background documents
