Replacing Probabilistic Reasoning_Structured Resonance as a Deterministic Alternative to LRM Collapse

CODES Framework Description: This paper introduces the Resonance Intelligence Core (RIC), a deterministic inference substrate that replaces probabilistic reasoning with phase-locked symbolic coherence. In response to Apple’s 2025 study “The Illusion of Thinking,” which demonstrates the collapse of Large Reasoning Models (LRMs) under scaling complexity, we present a structured alternative rooted in the CODES framework. RIC enforces symbolic alignment through prime-seeded anchors, Phase Alignment Scores (PAS), and Echo Loop Feedback (ELF), eliminating collapse behaviors inherent to token-based architectures. Experimental results show that RIC maintains coherence across recursive depth, outperforming LLMs and LRMs without requiring “thinking tokens” or stochastic search. This work defines a new paradigm: inference as resonance, not reflection.
