Influence of 21st Century Teachers' Skills on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Integration in the New Normal Teaching-Learning Environmen
This quantitative descriptive-correlational study examined the influence of 21st-century teachers’ skills on the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the new normal teaching-learning environment in the Davao City Division. The study involved 51 junior high school teachers selected through stratified random sampling from private secondary schools in Cluster 6. Teachers' 21st-century skills: critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity and innovation, and self-direction were assessed using validated Likert-scale instruments. ICT integration was evaluated based on teacher perceptions, its effectiveness for student learning, and the presence of effective implementation elements. Findings revealed that all five skills were highly evident among teachers, with collaboration and creativity being the most pronounced. Similarly, ICT integration was frequently observed in instructional practices. Multiple regression analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between teachers’ 21st-century skills and ICT integration, with critical thinking and self-direction emerging as the strongest predictors. These results emphasize the importance of equipping educators with modern pedagogical competencies to support effective ICT integration. Implications suggest that professional development and policy interventions should focus on enhancing these skills to foster technology-enriched, learner-centered classrooms in the new normal educational context.
