MANAGEMENT OF TELEHEALTH TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR BARANGAY HEALTH WORKERS IN GEOGRAPHICALLY ISOLATED AND DISADVANTAGED AREAS
This study examined the effectiveness of a telehealth training program for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA), focusing on input or resource adequacy, implementation efficiency, and effectiveness. Despite the importance of BHWs in facilitating telehealth, the study found significant gaps in training schemes, technological resources, and sustained application of telehealth skills. Using a descriptive-evaluative design with surveys the research revealed that while training resources were generally adequate and programs were deemed efficient and effective, issues such as limited internet connectivity, inadequate equipment, and inconsistent training delivery hindered long-term impact. The findings highlight the urgent need for enhanced resource allocation, standardized training implementation, and stronger monitoring and support systems to optimize healthcare delivery through telehealth in GIDA.
