A New Perspective on Physics Through Scale Dimension - A Thought Experiment
This proposal presents a thought experiment in physics. While we usually regard time and space as the fundamental dimensions in our understanding of the universe, what if "scale" itself were introduced as a new fundamental dimension? How might this shift our perspective on physics? Modern physics operates through distinct frameworks: quantum mechanics, classical physics, and relativity theory. Each of these theories successfully explains its respective domain, yet a unified understanding remains elusive. This thought experiment explores the possibility of treating scale as a dimension that connects these frameworks. By introducing "scale" as a physical dimension, I propose the following: Physical laws may be expressed as functions of scale. Transitions between different scales (e.g., quantum to classical domains) could be mathematically described. The shift from quantum mechanics to classical physics might be expressed as a continuous, unified process. This is not presented as a formal theory but as an idea intended to encourage discussion and exploration among those interested in new perspectives on physics.
